At Fairy Meadow, Nippers is about active learning, new challenges, and discovering the magic of the ocean safely. We focus on encouragement and positive experiences, ensuring every child feels a sense of belonging and achievement. As they grow, Nippers gradually learn the skills needed to become future lifesavers, embodying our club's spirit of community and service.

At Fairy Meadow, Nippers is about building confidence, making friends, learning how to enjoy the beach safely, and is about being active and taking on new challenges.

Absolutely! We warmly encourage parents to join in the fun. From helping with beach activities to running the BBQ or even becoming an Age Manager or Water Safety, there's a role for everyone. There's no pressure on you to take on big roles or responsibilities; we just encourage everyone to help out when and where they can. It’s a fantastic way to meet other families and become an even bigger part of our social club.

Ready for an ocean adventure? Our registration for the new season typically opens in September for an October start. Keep an eye on this page and our social media for specific dates and details. High-vis vests and swimwear are available on registration day. Our 2025 Registration Day is Sunday 14th September from 10am - 1pm down at the Club house at Fairy Meadow beach.

Once the new season commences, we will continue to take registrations all season. If you are unable to attend on the day you can complete this form, and someone from the Nipper team will be in contact to walk you through the registration process.
Alternatively, come on down and talk to the team once Nipper activities commence in October. Season start date to be confirmed.
A child must be at least 5 years of age before they can be registered for Nippers.
At least one parent or caregiver must join the Surf Club when registering children.
To participate in Nipper activities, a child must complete the preliminary skills evaluation. This allows our Nipper team to determine the water safety requirements to keep your child safe when participating in water activities and also allows you to track their skill, confidence, and fitness progression each season.
To undertake any role that requires you to work directly with children, you may be required to apply for a free volunteer working with children’s check.

Our Club is committed to the safety and wellbeing of every child and young person who takes part in our activities, programs, events or services and will work to create an environment in which children and young people are safe and feel safe at all times.
Fairy Meadow Surf Club recognises the importance of protecting young people under the age of 18 from abuse, harm and exploitation. It is everyone’s responsibility to treat children and young people respectfully and within the Child Protection Laws and the SLSA Child Safe Policy. The Child Safe Code of Conduct applies to all members and associated parties as outlined in the Child Safe Policy.
Resources, webinars and online training courses are available to all members, providing clear guidelines of appropriate behaviour when engaging with children and young people. All members are encouraged to complete the Child Safe Awareness online course found in the e-learning section of your members portal.

Members in Child related roles are required to provide a Working with Children Check to the club to be verified with the Office of Children’s Guardian. Keeping children and young people safe relies on community members reporting their concerns.
Fairy Meadow Surf Club members have a responsibility to speak up if they become aware of or observe something considered inappropriate. Please contact our club’s Member Protection Information Officer and submit through the online reporting portal. All reports submitted will be treated in confidence and with the utmost respect for all those involved.

Click submit once finished. Your report will then be sent to Surf Life Saving Australia‘s Legal Counsel and SLSNSW for investigation.
